Samuel Poantimului

b. 1939 , Nguiu, Bathurst Island, Australia

I learnt to do carvings when I was a boy living at Ranku. My father taught me how to carve and do the decorations with ochre. I started doing carving at Munupi Arts & Crafts in July 2000, before that I lived on Bathurst Island.

Samuel often works collaboratively with Josette Papanjua, his partner.  Samuel’s nickname is Marbuk. He turned 65 years old in August 2004.
